The mission of EAC revolves around equipping people to support one another by Empowering, Preventing, Innovating, and Connecting with communities across the state of Arkansas.
The E-P-I-C+ Leadership Program trains people with HIV to mentor others, share their story in public settings, and prepare for work in professional settings including employment and advisory groups. The peer-to-peer training model encourages peers to identify, examine, and address the root cause of stigma from their personal experience, building on the idea of ‘each one, teach one’ until stigma becomes non-existent in our community.
Positive Miles provides free transportation assistance to HIV medical care and supportive services to anyone living in Arkansas. Our dedicated team of Community Health Workers and Field Service Specialists work to provide safe, confidential travel to and from appointments to keep people engaged in care.
Peer-to-peer discussion groups, like "MpowerU" in Texarkana, provide a safe space to share feelings and build a network with others who know what it's like to deal with the stigma HIV brings. It's also a great environment to cut loose and have a good time in great company!
PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a way to take control of your sexual health. It helps people who are HIV negative (not living with HIV) to reduce their worry about getting HIV. PrEP is a powerful tool in helping to end the HIV epidemic. However, not everyone knows about PrEP or how to obtain it. Through our PrEPared for Life Program, we can help you find options for enrolling in PrEP services in Arkansas.
EAC offers free HIV and Hepatitis C screenings with results in 20 minutes or less. We also offer screenings for other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia in most settings. We can also send an HIV self-test directly to your home!
Emphasizing the power of shared experiences, our EAC Speaks! Podcast engages listeners in an epic conversation to end HIV. Be inspired as we explore sexual health, innovative approaches to outreach, and challenge HIV stigma in communities across Arkansas.
Real talk. Real conversation. The titles of these frank conversations about protecting your health speak for themselves! Titles like "Knocking Boots and Bumpin' Uglies" frame candid discussions on HIV prevention and stigma. Sessions feature a variety of guests, topics, and flavors. Listen to this popular series centered around sexual health matters that definitely matter in Arkansas!
This is our only podcast entirely in Spanish! PrEParado para Vivir Podcast explores prevention and challenges stigma using an appropriate cultural lens. Host Cassandra Funes talks with a variety of guests to engage Hispanic/Latinx Arkansans in discussing the often taboo subject of sexual health.
Service Not Status is our faith-based outreach program. We partner with faith-based groups to provide health education, screenings, and tools to prevent HIV in communities hit hardest when it comes to health disparities.
EAC Speaks! is a Speakers Bureau offering talks and training on various topics including Sexual Health and Youth, Black HIV/AIDS Awareness, HIV Prevention 101, Faith and HIV, and more. Speakers represent a variety of peer voices sharing personal experience and practical health information in the community.
